How a Design Is Started
So how do you start to design a space? Well that is a fully loaded question, isn’t it? Allow me to just dabble in the topic to give you a few insights as to how to get started!
The best way to start the design of a room is to start with inspiration. At First Creek Interiors, we love starting a project by finding something that has multi-colors in it. Why? Because color is so inspirational! Selecting a wallpaper, rug, fabric, or a fabulous piece of art with several colors sets the color scheme of the entire room. Often, when you find something with multi-colors you are also selecting a pattern. This pattern additionally sets the tone of the space. From here we can pick our accent colors that will complement and repeat around the room.
For example, take the image above. The starting inspiration was the beautiful floral rug. It is gorgeous with reds, oranges, and a soft spa blue. This is a bold rug, so in order for this space to feel relaxing, all of the other colors and patterns selected for the room need to be more subdued than the rug. The neutral colors should take up the majority of the space in the room. Neutrals like white, cream, brown, and grey have the softest effect on the eye, so we can use more of that color throughout. The spa blue works great as the drapery as an accent color. The red leather on the underside and back of the lounge chair is just enough to balance out the bold red in the rug. Finally, the wallpaper has a hint of cream and blue in a subtle pattern. This square pattern is strong enough to visually balance out the bold color in the rug.
You see how it all plays together now right? A great design is a composition of all elements. This is why it is so very vital that you plan your room design in advance so that all pieces synchronize together for the final show. With First Creek Interiors E-Design packages, we give you the planned design that will have all the elements already cohesively pulled together for a fantastic interior space!
